About The Bitterroot
The Bitterroot puts an ash-gray home and a taller shop side by side beneath two parallel gable roofs. A timber front porch leads into a long great room, with a covered back porch off the kitchen. The mudroom and laundry space links the living area to the shop. Its 14 x 14 ft RV door and 39-ft clear depth suit coaches up to about 35 ft long; the second overhead door and a walk door face the front too.

Living in The Bitterroot
Who it suits
The Bitterroot suits a household with a coach no longer than about 35 ft and a need for work space beside the home. The shop is attached on the right, with a mudroom and laundry space between it and the great room.
Room by room
- Great room: a 3 ft front entry door stands beside a 5 ft wide window; the 5 ft rear glass door leads toward the covered porch.
- Primary suite: the bedroom sits at the rear left with windows on the left and rear walls, plus doors to its bath and walk-in closet.
- Other bedrooms: Bedroom 3 is at the front left, and Bedroom 2 is 9 x 12 ft at the front right of the home.
- Shop: a 14 x 14 ft RV door, a 10 x 10 ft overhead door and a walk door face the front; its clear interior depth is 39 ft.
Build notes
- The house and shop have parallel 6:12 gables. The house eave is 11 ft and its ridge is 21 ft; the shop eave is 16 ft 6 in and its ridge is 26 ft 6 in.
- The house roof stops against the shop wall below the taller roof, with no valley shown.
- A 40 x 10 ft timber front porch and a 14 x 10 ft covered back porch serve the home.
- The drawings show conventional wood framing; a builder or engineer handles any steel or post-frame adaptation, and the builder confirms what local code requires between home and shop.
The exterior and interior images are concept renderings of this design, not photographs of a built home. Finishes and fixtures are illustrative; the plan governs. The floor plan is drawn from the plan set. Areas are approximate and measured to the outside face of exterior walls; porches, garages and shops are listed separately.

- Structure
- Drawn for conventional wood (stick) framing; trusses, posts, beams and footings are sized by the builder's engineer. A steel-frame or post-frame version is an adaptation your builder or engineer makes. Member sizes, connections and loads are by your builder's engineer for your site.
- Foundation
- Typical starting point: monolithic slab-on-grade with a thickened edge (a stem wall where frost depth requires), footings below the local frost line, a footing under every interior bearing line and girder point, and porch-post footings with uplift ties. Slab thickness, footing sizes, reinforcing and anchorage are sized by your engineer for your soil, frost depth and loads; shop and garage slabs are usually heavier than living-area slabs.
- Counts
- 12 windows, 3 exterior doors, 2 overhead doors, 9 porch posts

Sizes are clear inside dimensions for rooms and rough openings for doors and windows, from the plan set. Roof heights are above the finished floor. The structure and foundation lines are typical starting points: the drawings are not stamped, and your builder's engineer sizes members, footings and anchorage for your site, soil, snow, wind and frost depth.
