Farmhouse barndominium floor plans

These farmhouse barndominium plans use the look in different ways: as a whole house, as a kitchen, as a mood. The Whitfield is the modern-farmhouse version, in crisp white board-and-batten with a steep black metal roof and an apron-sink kitchen. The Bluegrass Cedar adds cedar shingle gables, shed dormers and a full-length porch on heavy cedar posts. Inside, a fieldstone fireplace and a vaulted cedar ceiling add a horse-country mood.

Decide how you will use the porch, because it sets the character of the house. The Wren Hollow wraps a porch around a 2-story farmhouse that keeps its primary suite on the main floor and adds a loft lounge. The Palmetto Lanai moves its living to the back, onto a covered lanai 16 feet deep with 3 sets of wide glass doors from the great room.

Two farmhouse plans pair the house with a working shop. The Breezeway sets a cream farmhouse and a charcoal shop side by side, joined by a timber breezeway, and it adds a rear dining porch of its own. The Courtyard Works wraps a farmhouse and a shop around a private gravel courtyard behind a cedar gate, with every living space and the shop’s glass doors opening onto it. If a shop matters to you, ask how far it sits from the bedrooms and which wall the big door faces.
