Where the cars go
Barndominium with garage floor plans
A useful first question for a barndominium with a garage is not how many cars it holds but which way the doors face. The Whitfield sets its 2-car garage wing back from the front of the house, though the garage doors still face the street. The Magnolia Split uses a side-entry garage. Each layout changes the drive, the turning space and what the street sees: a front-facing garage puts its doors in view, a side-entry garage needs room to turn beside the house, and a rear garage needs a drive that runs past it.
Next, follow the route from car to kitchen with arms full of groceries. A garage that opens into a mudroom or laundry keeps boots and wet coats out of the great room, and a pantry near the kitchen shortens the carry. Open the floor plan on any home page to check that route. Codes also set rules for the wall and door between a garage and living space, so your builder and local building department confirm what applies on your site.
Size matters in another way if you own trucks, trailers or toys. The Lone Star Wrap has an attached 3-car garage for trucks and tools, and the Roadhouse RV pairs a tall RV bay with a second garage door. Check the door sizes listed on each home page against your biggest vehicle, and ask your builder about a taller or wider opening if you need one.
If you would rather have a workbench than a parking space, see plans with a shop. Several of these homes are also farmhouse plans, so farmhouse barndominium plans are worth a visit, and so are 4 bedroom plans if you need the space. Every plan set locates each door and window on the floor plan and lists them in schedules, with an editable CAD file for your builder; the whole list is here.

Questions
Which plans keep the garage doors off the front of the house?
The Magnolia Split, the Gathering Barn and the Heritage Wing turn their garage doors to the side, and the Wren Hollow and the Bluegrass Cedar put the garage behind the house. The Whitfield’s garage doors face the street, but its garage wing sits back from the front of the house.
Is there a barndominium plan with a 3-car garage?
Yes. The Lone Star Wrap has an attached 3-car garage, and the Vista Grande has a 3-car garage wing.
What size are the garage doors?
Each home page lists its overhead doors with their sizes, taken from the plan set. If your truck or trailer needs a taller or wider opening, your builder can revise it in the CAD file, and your builder’s engineer sizes the beam over the new opening.
Is the garage counted in a home’s living area?
No. A home’s living area leaves out garages, shops and porches, and each home page lists the garage on a separate line.
